5 ways you can lose a nursing license

Holding a nursing license is an important part of your career. You wouldn't be able to practice nursing without a valid license in the state of California. You should do everything possible in your career to protect your license. Issues can crop up without warning that can threaten your license. Here are five ways you can lose your nursing license.

One of the quickest and easiest ways to put your nursing license in jeopardy is by impersonating another practitioner. The sad fact of the matter is that this happens all over the country. Sometimes the employer of the nurse impersonating another professional does not catch the issue until years have passed.

If a licensed practitioner ever provides a false copy of his or her license, he or she is putting him or herself in jeopardy to lose his or her license. This is a very rare occurrence, but it does happen. It usually occurs when a professional is suspended and creates a fake license to find a job somewhere else.

When a nurse falsifies a patient record, it can lead to the suspension of a professional license. It might have been done innocently at the end of a shift, or done maliciously to hide the fact that too much medicine was administered. Either way, it can lead to serious implications for the nurse.

If a nurse fails to provide a patient with the proper care, he or she could lose his or her license. Patient neglect, or even abuse, is not tolerated within the medical profession.
